The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week).  Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly.

East Lothian Council will place newly appointed Children’s Services social workers at point 3 of the Grade 9 salary scale (£36,972) and are happy to discuss a higher placement depending on experience.

Days and hours of work:
Monday - Thursday, 09:00-17:00
Days of working are negotiable, starting and finishing times are flexible and flexi time is applicable.

East Lothian Children’s Services have an exciting opportunity for a social worker to join the Intake and Assessment Team. The team consists of 2 team leaders, senior practitioners, social workers, family support workers and administrative support. Our Children's Services Intake and Assessment team is the single point of entry for all children and families referrals to the local authority.

Applicants should have a sound value base, excellent communication and report writing skills and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Child Protection processes, as well as, a knowledge about Children and Families social work legislation, role and responsibilities. In East Lothian our social workers practice is focused on our Signs of Safety assessment framework with an emphasis on relationship based interventions.

Working as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced and varied environment, you will undertake assessments when there are child protection concerns, and assessments of children-in-need.  You will undertake direct, time-limited work with children/ young people and their families.   You will contribute to the work of the team on a duty-rota, and carry an allocated short-term caseload of children and young people.

Education/Qualifications
Essential: Approved qualification in Social Work, and SSSC registration

Driving Licence
Full current driving licence and access to a vehicle*

PVG/Disclosure Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
