Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year).  Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay:  £11.25 - £12.11
These are  52 week non-sessional post i.e. it will include working during the school holidays.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established team and further your career in Early Years. We are looking for someone who is confident to help us continue to deliver high quality Early Years Care within Preston Tower.

Preston Tower Primary is large friendly school with around 900 pupils, split over 2 campuses with a vibrant nursery. West Loan campus is for nursery, P1 – P3 pupils and the Preston Road campus is for P4-7 pupils.  The successful applicant will be based in our West Loan campus.  Our nursery is divided into 3 rooms where children attend either Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday.  A Friday session timetable is also provided.  Each of our rooms are staffed by one Senior Early Years Practitioner as well as highly skilled EYP’s and Support workers.  We are proud to deliver a high quality learning environment where all children have the opportunity  to flourish and progress to the best of their abilities.  Our values of kindness, respect, high expectations,  nurture and inclusion underpin our curriculum and are always at the forefront in all we do in our nursery.

Job Details

To work in support of early years 'staff by contributing towards the creation of a warm, friendly, safe and caring environment for children aged 2 –5 years.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Education: Good standard of general education.

Must hold an SVQ in Social Services (Children & Young People) at SCQF Level 6 (or an alternative SSSC recognised equivalent qualification). If not already obtained, you must commit to achieve the SVQ in the appropriate period of registration to meet the SSSC registration requirements.

First Aid qualification or willingness to work towards gaining it.
Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to work towards gaining it.

SSSC registration or agreement to register within 6 months from the date of appointment to this post is essential.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups are required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
