Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week).  Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay:  £15.36 - £16.69

This is a 42 week sessional post i.e. working hours will be during school term time, school in-service days, plus  additional weeks during the school holidays.

East Lothian Council seek to appoint a hardworking, knowledgeable and reliable individual for the position of Workshop Technician, at Wallyford Learning Campus. The building will open for around 300 BGE pupils in August 2023, with a future projected pupil roll of 1000+ in S1-S6.

The new secondary facility is designed to support creative approaches to learning, with a range of adaptive teaching spaces. Alongside up to date and digitally enabled classrooms, there is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) plaza, a Learning Resource Centre, extensive facilities to support the arts, and a state of the art sport and leisure complex. Learning and teaching on the campus will go beyond the traditional classroom and encompass outdoor learning and sustainability. The campus also includes a number of community and health spaces to support collaboration between a range of professionals and sectors. 
The successful candidate will be based in the STEAM wing, working closely with the Faculty of Science and Technology. They will provide support for other departments across the school, and additional partners, as required.

Job Details

To support teaching staff, with a focus on the work of the CDT department, and to provide support/technical assistance in Art, Drama and, by agreement, other areas of the school.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
A recognised craft apprenticeship, possession of a City and Guilds Certificate Level 3, 
Higher National Certificate or equivalent.
