Based within the Environmental Health team for East Renfrewshire Council, you will be expected to carry out environmental health functions within East Renfrewshire’s geographical boundaries, with the aim of providing the highest achievable standard of environmental protection and public health care.
You must have graduated with a BSc (Hons) Environmental Health or equivalent and have achieved or be working towards your REHIS Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent by the end of 2023.
The section is made up of the Public Health and the Commercial Team. The successful applicant will be based within the Commercial Team and be expected to carryout Food Law inspections and other aspects of Food Law and Health and Safety. From time to time you may also need to work in Public Health matters or help/ witness officers in that team. You would be expected to work towards appropriate Continual Professional Development (CPD) requirements of the Food Law Code of Practice.
From time to time some evening and weekend work will be expected to cover some out of hour’s aspects.
You must have the ability to work to specific deadlines and possess excellent communication and IT skills. A current full driving licence is desirable.

Depending upon the needs of the service, staff in Hybrid roles will typically work from home for up to 40-60% of the time where the needs of the service can still be met.
