This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fantastic team of Instrumental Music Instructors across Falkirk Council schools. We are looking for a highly skilled Instrumental Music Instructor who is passionate about improving life chances for all pupils, allowing them to achieve their full potential. As an Instrumental Music Instructor in Falkirk you will be responsible for leading learning delivering lessons and in a group format and leading ensembles. The successful candidate should have experience in Instrumental Teaching with knowledge of the current curriculum, preparing pupils for SQA and external examinations. You will be expected to participate in the running and development of authority wide ensembles and groups.

This post will teach across five secondary schools, teaching acoustic and electric guitar and bass guitar. Pupils will range from complete beginners to those studying advanced higher and grade 8 guitar. The post is temporary for two years, covering a member of the team on sabbatical.

Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements

You are required to have high levels of interpersonal skills and abilities which will enable you to work as a member of a team to ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people in your setting.

You are required to demonstrate a commitment to your own professional learning as a practitioner through career-long professional learning activity and to be able to show how this has impacted on your practice.

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

Instrumental Music Instructors are not required to be fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) but should model all behaviour expected of a teacher in Scotland in line with the relevant Professional Standards. Instructors should hold a music degree qualification.
