Job Advert

In Falkirk we are proud and passionate about the work we do.

We are proud to have a workforce with values that promote human rights, social justice, and professional integrity. We recognise the importance of diversity within our organisation that reflects the communities we serve.

We are looking for a qualified registered Social Worker who is passionate about inspiring the next generation of Social Workers and Occupational Therapists to take on the role of Practice Learning Assessor-Coordinator. You will work alongside our established part-time Practice Learning Assessor-Coordinator to lead in the coordination, support and assessment of Social Worker and coordination and support of Occupational Therapist student placements over all areas covered by the Council and Health and S Care Partnership.

As a SSSC approved Practice Educator you will work closely with colleagues across the Council and Health and Social Care Partnership and higher education. You will have an assessing and coordinating role to ensure there is a full and varied learning opportunity for each social work student. You will work with colleagues to develop a similar approach for Occupational Therapy student placements. This post has a role in securing our future workforce.

You will provide off-site supervision in partnership with Practice Educators and Assessors in a broad range of social care and social work settings. You will have a leadership role in the coordination and facilitation of the Newly Qualified Social Workers support group and work in partnership with services to meet the standards of the NQSW Supported first year.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside the newly funded temporary Practice Learning Coordinator (NQSWs) postholder who is being recruited to raise awareness and create the conditions for us to meet the requirements of the NQSW Supported first year.

You must hold a degree/diploma or equivalent qualification in Social Work, and the post graduate certificate/qualifying award in Practice Learning, with experience of being a Practice Educator. You must also be registered or in the process of registering with the Scottish Social Services Council. These posts are exempt under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

You will work 18.5 hours per week.

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.

We have a dynamic and forward-thinking workforce, who are committed to make a positive difference for people accessing services and living in our communities. Trauma informed, relationships and strengths based social work sits at the heart of our practice.

We promote a workforce culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work. This supports our mission to be recognised as a learning organisation promoting openness, creativity, and experimentation across the workforce.

We work hard to develop our staff and expose them to a wide range of opportunities. We encourage our workforce to acquire and share knowledge, information, and resources. We nurture innovation, including service co-design that’s shaped by lived experiences and we provide freedom to try new things, to risk failure and to learn from both mistakes and promising and good practice.
