Job Details

Due to the retirement of the current postholder a rare opportunity has arisen for an FC10 Occupational Therapy Team Manager within Fife Health and Social Care Partnership Community Occupational Therapy Service.

The Community Occupational Therapy Service works with adults within a person’s home environment home to identify both what is preventing/limiting individuals in carrying out essential daily living tasks and what assets are available to overcome these. Interventions will vary from alternative techniques, coping strategies, moving and handling techniques, assistive equipment and adaptations to the home environment.

  • This is a full time, 36-hour, permanent post which will be based in Glenrothes at Fife House.
  • Travel expenses will be paid – we pay 45 pence per mile to staff using their own car. You will also be provided with a uniform, laptop and mobile phone.
  • Access to support and training opportunities relevant to the role is available.

As a progressive employer, we offer the opportunity to work in this role as a “blended working” arrangement with home-working opportunities and office-working as required. While the significant part of the role can be carried out remotely, candidates should be able to travel to and attend office locations in Fife as required.

Under the direction of the Clinical Services Manager for Integrated Community Teams, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing Community Occupational Therapy teams delivering personal outcome focussed assessments and intervention.
  • Professional supervision and governance for Occupational Therapy staff.
  • Monitoring the performance of the team and individual members.
  • Managing and monitoring devolved budgets.
  • Managing the effective and efficient delivery of the Community OT service in a defined geographical area.
  • Supporting Community Occupational Therapy teams across Fife in the absence of the other Team Manager(s).
  • Ensuring that relevant statutory duties in relation to delivery of services are carried out.
  • Ensuring that the highest quality of service is being provided to service users within the Health and Social Care partnership standards and frameworks.
  • Prioritising resources and service delivery in accordance with levels of risk and need.
  • Participating in service planning and evaluation to ensure developments reflect assessed needs.
  • Ensuring that decisions reflect individual choice as well as Health and Social Care policy.
  • Dealing with complaints and enquiries
  • Agreed strategic leadership roles to develop the Community Occupational Therapy Service

The Person

You will be an inspirational leader for the Cowdenbeath and Glenrothes Community Occupational Therapy Teams. You will ensure workloads are manageable and that relevant learning opportunities and supervision are provided to all team members. You should be passionate about developing intervention based around the individual needs of each person. You must have the capacity to identify and manage high risk situations.

You will contribute to the strategic leadership and development of the Fife Community Occupational Therapy Service.

You must be educated to SCQF level 9, which includes a degree or equivalent professional qualification in Occupational Therapy, and be registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council. You will have; extensive post qualifying experience in Occupational Therapy; experience of managing work in Occupational Therapy; management/leadership training; excellent interpersonal skills; communication skills and be an active listener. You must be able to travel across Fife when required to meet commitments and timescales.

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.
