Job Details

The post holder will support valuation staff in the preparation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll and Council Tax Valuation List. The post will be based at Fife House, Glenrothes but will work Fife wide.

Key tasks in the role include:

  • Survey, measurement and inspection of domestic and non- domestic properties.
  • Creation and maintenance of property files.
  • Operation of in house computer systems and databases.
  • Organising own workload to meet deadlines and make best use of resources.
  • Providing assistance in the preparation of appeal cases to be presented before the Valuation Appeal Committee.
  • Preparation of survey reports.
  • Research and collation of information required to assist in appeals and valuations.
  • Downloading plans from the e-planning website and researching other property information.
  • Dealing with general property enquiries received by the service.
  • Working as a member of a team.
  • As a progressive employer, we offer the opportunity to work in this role as a “blended working” arrangement with home-working opportunities and occasional office-working as required. While the significant part of the role can and will be carried out remotely, candidates should be able to travel to and attend office locations in Fife as required.

The Person

Applicants should have:

  • Highers, SCQF level 6, SVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • good numeracy, accuracy and literacy skills.
  • previous experience working in a busy office environment or as part of a team.
  • the ability to work as part of a team or individually as required.
  • the ability to organise and prioritise own workload in order to meet agreed deadlines.
  • computer literacy.
  • the ability to travel throughout Fife.
  • the ability to learn how to apply rating and council tax legislation and case law on a practical basis.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

We are currently shaping our future workstyles however, in light of current advice, we are introducing blended home/office working that will include office access days each week with homeworking for the remainder of your working time.
