Role – Area Operations Manager (Care Services)
Location – GCHSCP, Blair Court, 100 Borron Street, Port Dundas Business Park, Glasgow, G4 9XE
Contract Status – Temporary up to 12 weeks
An opportunity has arisen for the position of Area Operations Manager (AOM) working within Glasgow City Health and Socical Care Partnership (GCHSCP), Home Care Service. The Home Care Service provides on average 95,000 visits per week, supporting 5000 elderly service users city wide.
To succeed in this role, you will be a confident, self-motivated, and driven individual with a flexible approach, together with the ability to put forward new ideas and solutions that add value to the Home Care Service. You will work closely with the Assistant Area Operations Manager (AAOM) and your team of Care Co-ordinators as well as an Occupational Therapist and Social Care Worker. Your main duties and responsibilities will include the management of the Home Care staff to ensure effective service delivery that meets service user outcomes and performance management targets.
You will have responsibility for the management of upwards of 100 staff, which includes Recruitment, Retention, Attendance Management, Disciplinary, Grievance and arranging relief cover when required.
The successful applicant should have a flexible approach to service delivery and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders including relatives, service users, multidisciplinary teams and Trade Union representatives. There is a requirement to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. It is essential that you have operational experience working with vulnerable service users in the provision of personal and practical care, whilst having a knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures including Health & Social Care Standards.
You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of around 3000 home care visits within your patch each week, supporting on average 200 vulnerable service users.
Applicants should be qualified or working towards a qualification at SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and a relevant management qualification (SCQF level 7) to meet the requirements of registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership.
Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date. Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.
These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
