Job Description

Glasgow Life is looking for an Events Assistant to join the local organising committee (LOC) of the World Athletics Indoor Championships. You’ll join us on a full-time basis on a fixed term contract through to April 2024. As Events Assistant, you will be joining the LOC that leads on the planning and delivery of the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team in a key coordination position, supporting the Championships Director and wider team members across a variety of areas.

Celtic Connections, Glasgow Mela and the World Pipe Band Championships are staples of the city’s events calendar. On top of that, Glasgow is a top sporting city, staging major sporting events. In the coming years, the city will host the UCI Cycling World Championships and the World Athletics Indoor Championships. The role 
Working as part of the governance functional area, this role will be key in coordinating centralised processes and supporting the Championships Director a variety of delivery areas including Governance and Administration. This role would suit a candidate with experience in or interest of major event planning on an international level. The role will work across a variety of functional areas and will provide the opportunity for a passionate candidate to develop their skills in a range of areas within event planning.

If you’re interested in joining us as Events Assistant you’ll need: 
To be able to manage and deliver high quality ae work across multiple projects.
Good administrative skills with proven experience
The ability to communicate across agencies, government and hierarchies at all levels.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Some of our roles are currently piloting hybrid working, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree these days with you. This balance enables you to continue much-needed collaborative working. 

Our primary office is at Commonwealth House, 32 Albion Street, Glasgow. 

This role will follow a standard working pattern Monday-Friday (09:00-17:00), though there will be flexibility within this for out of regular hours work due to the ebb and flow of delivering a major international event. Your line manager will discuss and agree with you any out of hours work required.
