Glasgow City Council                Chief Executive

Salary:                                       £200,618.22 - £209,817.10

Glasgow is an ambitious city with a track record in attracting business and major international events such as COP26 and the recent UCI Cycling World Championships. 

 

In common with other major cities however it also faces significant social economic challenges and we want to recruit a Chief Executive with the experience, knowledge and skills to build upon our successes and effectively tackle these.

 

Suitable applicants will share  Glasgow’s vision to continue the transformation of the city and the city region, supporting its economic growth. They will put the challenges and aspirations of Glasgow's people and communities at the heart of every decision to help address, support and deliver on the city's main priorities.

 

Reporting directly to the council’s political leadership, the Chief Executive will discharge the statutory duties of Head of Paid Service and provide  strategic leadership to the council departments and arms-length organisations  that maintain and develop the council family’s services to the people of Glasgow.

 

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, with a recognised and relevant professional qualification desirable. You should have proven leadership skills gained at a senior level in a large, complex organisation. You will be able to demonstrate the innovation and drive necessary to lead the paid service within Scotland’s largest local authority. You will have experience of leading multi-disciplinary corporate teams as well as working effectively with partner organisations.
