Job Description

The Health Improvement Officer will act as an Embedded Researcher to help “enhance policy modelling capabilities to tackle the economic determinants of health and health inequality”. This is part of a £35 million project funded by UK Research and Innovation.*

Building on the work of the SIPHER project**, you will be tasked with providing evidence to set policies to help tackle health inequalities.

Based within the Glasgow City Region Intelligence Hub***, you will work across a diverse range of partners – from academia, government agencies, local and regional governments, research institutes and third sector organisations.

The consortium is making use of novel complex systems approaches to show how tax, welfare, pensions and inheritance policies might affect health inequality outcomes to help policymakers understand their impacts on people in their area. Central to this collaboration is the role of the Embedded Researcher, a researcher employed in the policy organisation (Glasgow City Region) working to embed research learning throughout the policy making process, and embed policy-making knowledge throughout the research process. An overview of this role can be seen in this blog from a researcher already working in Greater Manchester: https://thesra.org.uk/SRA/SRA/Blog/Embeddingresearcherstohelpreducehealthnequalities.aspx

This post is fixed term for a period up to 4 years.
