Job  Purpose: We are looking for highly motivated, experienced planner to lead our Strategic Projects Team.

As Scotland’s largest Planning Authority we manage a wide range of national and major developments in an area renowned for its outstanding natural, built and cultural heritage. This provides an incredible variety and diversity of work for the team, which includes minerals development, commercial activity and increasingly, as we strive to meet net zero, both onshore and offshore renewable energy and grid infrastructure projects.  With Opportunity Cromarty Firth having recently been awarded Greenport status by the UK and Scottish Government, further large scale energy decarbonisation development is on the horizon.

We set high standards and aim to provide an excellent service for each of our customers. We are constantly looking at ways we can improve the service we provide to our customers so that we can all contribute to delivering a first class planning service. We have a collaborative and supportive work culture that ensures officers have the opportunity to learn from each other as well as benefiting from the experience and support of senior members of the team.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the day to day operation of the Council’s Strategic Projects Team, managing all the national and major development activity across the Highlands, with a key focus on renewables and mineral development. You would be supported by a small dedicated team and report directly to the Area Planning Manager. This role would allow you the opportunity to work with a progressive Planning Authority while also experiencing all that the stunning Scottish Highlands has to offer in terms of its people,  landscape and culture.
