Health & Safety Assistant (temp/full time)                                                   REF: ECOD/64736

Salary: Grade 5 £29767 - £31581                                                                

Location: Municipal Buildings, Greenock

Hours: 37 hours per week

Duration: temp till 11th October 2024

 

We are currently looking to recruit a Temporary full-time assistant H&S Officer for a period of 6 months. The post holder will work as part of the Council’s Corporate H&S function to support the effective delivery of a range of corporate health and safety activities, including administration of the health surveillance programme.

 

The successful candidate will be involved in supporting H&S Officers deliver a wide range of H&S functions including: the review of corporate policies & guidance, assist in review of risk assessments with services and update H&S website content, training design and delivery, carry out targeted H&S audits and initiatives, provision of H&S advice to managers in different risk areas of the business, carry out or assist with accident investigations across a range of council service functions, collate and produce annual and quarterly reports from the incident reporting system, HR/Payroll system and training records to assist in the calculation of KPI’s and reports to the Corporate H&S Committee

 

You will be educated to SCQF Level 6, have occupational experience that demonstrates good organisational skills to include development and maintenance of information management systems, with particular emphasis on health and safety.

 

You will work on a Hybrid basis with a blend of  working from home, office-based work and  some site-based travel .

Vetting by Disclosure Scotland

If you work in regulated work (children and/or protected adults) you will be subject to obtaining a satisfactory PVG. A small number of posts require a Standard or Basic Disclosure check and the majority of all other posts will complete a Criminal Convictions Form. All disclosure checks are obtained via Disclosure Scotland. If you are the successful candidate you will be required to pay the cost of the disclosure check required for your post.

 

Regulatory Bodies

If your post requires registration with a Regulatory Body such as HCPC or SSSC etc., you are required to obtain and maintain registration including paying any fees for HCPC. As part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are no longer required to pay SSSC fees.
