Based in Saltersgate School you will be part of a team of professionals with joint responsibility for planning and delivering the learning for our children and young people. You will also be responsible for contributing to the development of a caring, stimulating, learning environment to enable children to achieve their maximum potential.
Saltersgate, is Midlothian’s school which provides support for children with a range of complex additional support needs. The school is situated within the Dalkeith Schools Community Campus and currently caters for children and young people with a wide range of additional support needs. The school is a non-denominational primary and secondary school whose catchment area extends to the whole of Midlothian. The school has access to the campus facilities consisting of swimming pools, gym halls, fitness suite, assembly hall and outside sporting areas.
Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education or equivalent competency is essential, to enable the jobholder to communicate effectively with staff and pupils, and provide sensitive support. The Jobholder must be familiar with child development and be able to respond to the needs of individual special need pupils. It is essential that Jobholders have previous experience of working in this field supporting clients with special needs, administering medication and providing personal and intimate care.
It is desirable that the Jobholder also has experience in manual handling, food hygiene, body spills and basis emergency first aid. However, once in post, the Jobholder will be given opportunity and be required to undertake additional on-going training.

Based on you working 14 hours and 58 minutes over 39 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £9,060.07 per annum.
Based on you working 29 hours 30 minutes over 39 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £17,853.85 per annum.
