An exciting opportunity has arisen to make a key contribution to the Road Services team. The post holder will be an experienced road engineer, self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision and hold a relevant degree. With a good knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Code of Practice “Safety at Street Works and Road Works”, you will use your previous experience perhaps in highway design, road asset management and maintenance, design of road safety and traffic management schemes to improve and augment the road network in Midlothian.

Midlothian is the fastest growing local authority area in Scotland which brings with it a range of exciting challenges for a rounded candidate with additional experience of traffic regulation orders, decriminalised parking, active travel schemes and road safety measures.

You will be based in Dalkeith with option to work remotely at times within a “hybrid” working model. Travelling to site will be integral in fulfilling the duties of this post for which a full driving licence is required.

Job share will be considered.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £42,322.15 per annum with pay award pending. In addition, the council typically pays around 20% of gross salary into the Lothian Pension Scheme.

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard.
