An exciting opportunity has arisen to make a key contribution to the Roads and Transportation team. The post holder will be an experienced roads officer/engineer, self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision and hold a relevant degree. With a good knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance you will use your previous experience to make a difference in Midlothian which is the fastest growing local authority area in Scotland. This growth brings with it a range of exciting challenges in road planning and road safety.

You will initially be based in Dalkeith with option to work remotely at times within a “hybrid” working model. Travelling to site will be integral in fulfilling the duties of this post for which a full driving licence is required.

A pay award is pending and for those that chose to enrol in the scheme the Council typically contributes around 22% of gross salary to Lothian Pension Fund.

Hours of Work: Full time - 36 hours per week, Part Time - 18 hours per week. 

Working Pattern: Full Time - Standard 36 hour week. Part Time - to be confirmed with successful candidate. 

Weeks per year: 52

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Full Time - Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £42,322.15 per annum.

Part Time - Based on you working 18 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £21,161.08 per annum.

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard.
