Do you feel strongly about making a difference to our local communities? Exciting opportunities have arisen to join our Cemeteries teams based across North Lanarkshire.

In this key role, you will undertake grass cutting and maintenance work within the Cemeteries over the spring and summer months, rotating to undertake memorial safety work in the autumn and winter. You will receive the opportunity and training to be multi-skilled in both land maintenance and memorial safety operations.

With previous experience of maintaining grassed open spaces, shrub and flower bed maintenance you will have used various items of grass cutting equipment such as pedestrian machinery, hand and self-propelled, as well as petrol strimmers.

You will undertake the full range of memorial safety duties; inspecting, making safe and erecting memorials. You will also undertake day-to-day works relating to memorial safety, including monitoring and inspecting ongoing and completed works, ensuring standards and correct working procedures are adhered to.

You will require literacy and digital skills to utilise IT devices and systems to record actions and update records. You should be able to undertake physical duties including manual handling of heavier types of materials or labouring work. You will be a positive and enthusiastic individual with a responsible nature and have a courteous manner when dealing with the public. You should also be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

You will require good literacy and numeracy skills, with relevant experience of working within a similar environment. You will possess health and safety awareness coupled with manual handling training, Gantry training will be provided. You will hold a Driving Licence (Categories B&E and C). Possession of spraying certificates PA1, PA2 and PA6 would be an advantage.

You will require a satisfactory outcome to Hand Arm Vibration and Audiometric Testing.

Working pattern:

37 Hours Per Week

Monday to Thursday - 8am to 4pm

Friday - 8am to 3.30pm
