Applications are invited from motivated individuals to undertake duties as the cook supervisor responsible for the provision of the school meal service at Glaitness School.

Glaitness school operates with a team of five people producing freshly prepared home cooked meals for on average 200+ pupils in primary and nursery education. This post would suit working parents looking for a term time only post that operates predominantly within school times Monday to Friday. Full training is provided on internal systems such as procurement and food safety management systems, as well as the opportunity to complete additional training to support this key role within school meals.

Duties include preparation, cooking and service of food, supervision of staff, menu planning, ordering of provisions, ensuring all aspects of service provision complies with food safety and completion of associated records, cash handling and liaising with school staff, parents, and pupils.

A Professional cookery qualification at SVQ level 3 or where this qualification is not held, at least 12 months equivalent experience within the catering sector is essential.

You must also hold an Intermediate Food Hygiene Qualification (holders of Elementary level will be considered on the understanding that they will complete Intermediate level within 6 months of appointment).

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

This post is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
