An exciting opportunity has arisen for two highly skilled and experienced early years practitioners to join our team as Lead Early Years Practitioner at Papdale Nursery.

Papdale Nursery is registered for 94 children aged 3-5 years and operates alongside Papdale Primary School in Kirkwall. It offers year round and extended provision. The Nursery Leadership Team is made up of an Early Learning and Childcare Manager, a Senior Early Years Practitioner and two Lead Early Years Practitioners. These roles work together to support the nursery community and drive improvement, to ensure high quality provision in the setting. As Lead Practitioner, you will work alongside a skilled and dedicated team who are all committed to delivering the very best for children and their families.

Operating from our lovely, refurbished nursery, Papdale offers a range of spaces including a family room to meet parents. The environment has well considered and beautiful spaces, with interesting materials and loose parts to extend children’s learning.

You will be responsible for a key group of children and building relationships with them and their families. You will have also opportunities to be involved in all aspects of provision, including supporting planning, leading on areas of improvement and helping practitioners to develop their practice.

You should hold a recognised qualification that enables registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner (Day Care of Children) e.g. HNC in Early Education and Child Care, SVQ Level 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) or other recognised qualification that enables registration. You are required to register with the SSSC within the first 6 months of taking up post and maintain registration.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

Prospective applicants are invited to discuss this exciting opportunity by contacting the Nursery Manager, Karen Petrie on 01856 886651 or by emailing karen.petrie@glow.orkneyschools.org.uk

Closing Date: Wednesday 14 June 2023
