We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the IT Service, within the Council’s Neighbourhood Services and Infrastructure directorate located in Kirkwall, Orkney.
The successful applicant will have experience in desktop support including diagnosis and resolution of user hardware and software issues. The right applicant will also have an enthusiastic approach in supporting the large variety of systems run at Orkney Islands Council and will require excellent technical skills, and the ability to learn to support new systems to a corporate standard.
The minimum knowledge required for this role can be evidenced by either:
Holding a qualification at SCQF 6/7 i.e., SVQ3, National Certificate, Foundation Apprenticeship, Advanced Higher, Scottish Baccalaureate, HNC, Certificate of Higher Education OR having a minimum of 3 years previous relevant experience, as detailed in the experience section of this person specification.
The postholder will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average revalued earnings (CARE) defined benefit scheme for which the employer contribution paid is currently 17.6% in addition to the salary paid.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
