Pupil Equity Worker (3 posts)

1 x 35 hours per week, Papdale Primary School
1 x 35 hours per week, Kirkwall Grammar School
1 x 17.5 hours per week, Kirkwall Grammar School
Temporary up to 31 March 2024
£27,328 - £29,476 pro rata (including shift allowance and Distance Islands Allowance)

Based within Kirkwall Grammar School and/or Papdale Primary School the role will involve building positive relationships with pupils and their families; to maximise wellbeing and raise pupils’ aspirations and achievement. You will contribute to closing the poverty related attainment gap by supporting the development, co-ordination and delivery of learning opportunities for children and young people both within and out with the school environment.

You will be managed by Community Learning and Development, but will liaise closely with schools, as well as collaborating with other relevant partners to ensure a multi-agency coherence of support which will encourage learning and raise pupils’ attendance and engagement, with a particular focus on Pupil Equity Funding priority groups.

Hours will be flexible based around the school day, before and after school and school holiday periods.

Applicants for full or part-time working would be welcome.

Holding a relevant qualification at SCQF 6/7 level i.e., SVQ3, National Certificate, Foundation Apprenticeship, Advanced Higher, Scottish Baccalaureate, HNC, Certificate of Higher Education or having a minimum of 3 years’ previous relevant experience is essential.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

The post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
