ORKNEY HEALTH AND CARE
Health and Community CareRelief Mobile Community Responder

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
£13.43 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate.

The Responder Service provides a speedy response following falls or other emergencies in the home, ensuring that individuals can remain safely and independently in their own homes and enjoy quality of life.

The work will be both challenging and varied and, under guidance from the Responder Co-ordinator, you will enable individuals to achieve as much independence as possible, through the provision of Community Care alarms and the ongoing 24 hour emergency support of the team.

This role would ideally suit someone who has recent work experience in the social care field or similar. You will need the sort of personality that enjoys interacting with people and making a difference to their lives. If you are motivated, caring, honest, can remain calm in a crisis and have a sense of fun, then this could be the job for you and we are waiting to hear from you.

Applicants should hold an SVQ2 Health & Social Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Support Worker in a Care Home Service for Adults or, where the essential qualification is not held, the Council will pay for and support you to achieve this within 5 years of taking up post.

You will be required to register with the SSSC as a Support Worker in a Care Home Service for Adults within 6 months of taking up post.

The work could be anywhere on the Orkney mainland so a full current driving licence is essential (please note, the Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so if you are unable to drive due to a disability your application will still be able to be considered).

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.

Further information is available from Sandra Kestrel, Responder Service Co-ordinator, on 01856 873535, ext: 2610.

The recruitment for this post is on-going.

Please note that interview expenses are not payable for this post.
