We are looking for someone with relevant skills in resilience to join our Safety and Resilience team as a Safety and Resilience Officer (Resilience) within Orkney Islands Council.

The post will discharge the Council’s Category 1 Responder duties including participation in local, regional and national resilience partnerships with other agencies where appropriate. This will include ensuring our ongoing participation in Resilience Exercises and planning and delivering our resilience work in accordance with the Civil Contingencies Act.

Reporting to the Service Manager (Safety and Resilience), you will have expertise in Resilience and a knowledge of Health and Safety and Road Safety, to provide internal cover within the team. You will advise and execute the operational response to incidents, resilience exercises and participate in on-call duty on a regular basis.
You will be familiar with current policy and legislation around Safety and Resilience and working with category 1 responder agencies. You should be able to demonstrate the full range of professional duties and have experience of briefings, incident management teams, emergency planning and risk.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
