Social Care Assistant (2 posts)

1 x 14.5 hours per week
1 x 7 hours per week (average hours centered around support needs)

Adult Short Breaks and Supported Living Network is based in Kirkwall and offers support to adults who have learning disabilities in their own tenancies as well as a short breaks service for those who live with families/carers in the community. This post will predominantly be based in the Supported Living Network part of the service. This post does not require sleep-in duties.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual(s) who will work predominantly on an individual basis and also as a member of a wider team. You will adopt a person centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to a service user within the Supported Living Network service. You will provide support and assistance to the service user using the re-ablement approach that includes maximising and maintaining their independence to access community facilities. This from time to time will require hours to be worked flexibly to accommodate and support service user attendance at events of their choice. You will have sound knowledge of the principles of social inclusion.

You must be able to evidence a commitment to the care of adults with Learning Disabilities and have preferably, experience in the field of support needs. We are looking for someone with a strong sense of professionalism and you should have knowledge of contributing to Support Planning and Risk Assessing in relation to people who have Learning Disabilities and/or additional support needs. You are required to be familiar with the standards of care required to meet the Health and Social Care Standards and Care Inspectorate.

You should hold an SVQ 2 in Health & Social Care or other relevant qualification(s) to enable registration with SSSC or, where the essential qualification is not held, there is a requirement to achieve relevant qualification(s) within 5 years of appointment.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
