Social Care Worker

£28,239 – £30,319 / £31,082 – £33,354 pro rata (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)

Sunnybrae is located in Kirkwall and comprises of a purpose-built extra care facility and respite service for older people. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person who is able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. You will adopt a person-centred, outcome focused approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the service.

You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach that includes support and assistance to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities. You should have knowledge and experience of support planning and risk assessing in relation to people who have disabilities and be committed to the principles of social inclusion.

Experience of working within a care home or extra care housing setting is essential and experience of key working would also be an advantage.

To be appointed at G5:
You should hold an SVQ2 or equivalent qualification in Social Care AND there is a requirement to achieve an SVQ3 in Social Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Housing Support Service with Care at Home within 5 years.

To be appointed at / progression to G6:
You should hold an SVQ3 in Social Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Housing Support Service with Care at Home.

You are required to register with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Housing Support service with Care at Home within 6 months of employment.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
