£32,561 - £35,626 (including Distant Islands Allowance)
We are looking to recruit a Project Officer (Communications and Engagement) to take responsibility for developing and implementing a robust and extensive communication plan for the Strategic Projects, with greatest focus on the Orkney’s Community Wind Farm Project and Private Wire Network Project. This will involve interaction with numerous stakeholders and the post holder will be expected to be the point of contact for communications activity, effectively co-ordinating activity of the project team and wider Council communications team in respect of project communications and public engagement.
You will have experience of producing and implementing communications plans for projects and experience of undertaking stakeholder (and specifically community) engagement activities, including through public meetings and experience of dealing with the media.
Applicants should hold a qualification at SCQF level 8/9 ie.SVQ4 HND, General Degree, Higher Apprenticeship, Technical Apprenticeship in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or other relevant discipline. Where this is not held, applicants should have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, as detailed in the experience section of the person specification.
You will need to demonstrate effective communication skills.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
