Team Manager (Environmental Services Operations)

35 hours per week

£46,813 - £49,514 / £25.65 - £27.13 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

Orkney Islands Council is looking for an experienced Team Manager who will manage the day to day running of the Environmental Services Operations Team to deliver the full range of client and operational services associated with waste and environmental services.

Excellent communication and organisational skills, together with extensive practical and relevant experience of working in a Waste and Recycling environment, including detailed knowledge of regulations. In addition to relevant management experience, a proven ability to lead and manage teams within an operational environment and an unwavering focus on excellent customer service is required.

Qualifications should include SVQ4, HND, general degree or equivalent SCQF level 8/9 qualification in a related subject such as environmental science, waste management or other relevant area or, where this is not held, a period of 5 years of previous experience directly relevant to the post is required. A certificate of Technical Competence or equivalent as recognised by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency is also required.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney including the outer islands.
