Job Description

Principal Teacher, Intensive Support Provision - PKC11379
£59,481
Tulloch Primary School, Perth

Please note: Only existing employees of Perth & Kinross Council may apply.

We are looking to recruit a Principal Teacher for our Intensive Support Provision (ISP).

Our ISP has two classes with around 8 children in each class. In each classroom there is a Class Teacher and Pupil Support Assistant.

Our classes are for children who are adversely impacted by their additional support needs to the extent that the mainstream context is or is predicted to be significantly impairing their wellbeing and educational progress.  The needs of children and young people are closely monitored and reviewed.  Wherever possible, opportunities to extend their learning in a mainstream environment are considered and taken forward with a view to maximising their social skills and breadth of learning experiences.

The Principal Teacher will teach in one of the classes part of the week and have time out of the classroom to support the staff to ensure the needs of all children in the ISP are being met.

The Principal Teacher will work with the School Senior Leadership team to plan the improvement priorities for the ISP and lead the quality assurance activities.

The Principal Teacher is the point of contact for parents/carers and partner agencies and will lead communication regarding the ISP.

The Individual

We are looking for an experienced, positive and reflective teacher who has experience in supporting children with a range of additional support needs including supporting children with autism, ADHD, social and communication difficulties, and sensory difficulties.

The Principal Teacher will be required to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and ISP team, families, and partners to promote inclusion.

You will be responsible for leading the improvement planning to improve outcomes for our children through individual planning and target setting.

We are looking for a positive and creative person who will lead the curriculum planning and lead the team to create an environment that is inclusive and incorporates visual supports, sensory learning activities, a communication friendly environment including promoting the use of Makaton.

If you would like any more information regarding this vacancy, please contact Kerstine Speight, Head Teacher on 01738 472323.
