We currently have the following opportunity:

Pupil Care & Welfare Officer (Fixed Term until 31 March 2027) - PKC14165
£17,669 - £18,614 (27.5 Hours per week, Term-time only)
Inch View Primary School, Perth

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pupil Care and Welfare Officer to play a key role in improving attendance and reducing lateness across our school community.

The successful candidate will work closely with children, families and staff to remove barriers to engagement and ensure every child is supported to attend school regularly, punctually and ready to learn.

At Inch View Primary, our work is underpinned by our CARE values – Creative, Ambitious, Respectful and Engaged– and our shared expectations that all members of our school community are Ready, Respectful and Safe.

The Pupil Care and Welfare Officer will model and promote these values in all interactions, building positive relationships that support children and families to succeed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track attendance and lateness, identifying patterns and groups requiring targeted support.
  • Work directly with children and families to address barriers to attendance, offering practical and emotional support.
  • Build trusting, compassionate relationships with parents and carers, in line with our CARE values, particularly supporting those experiencing challenge or disadvantage.
  • Support children to arrive ready to learn, reinforcing routines, expectations and positive habits.
  • Promote a culture of respect, where attendance is valued and every child feels included and supported.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff and partners (e.g. education welfare, social work, health services) to ensure a joined-up approach.
  • Contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment where children feel confident attending school every day.
  • Lead and support interventions and initiatives aimed at improving punctuality and reducing persistent absence.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to staged intervention processes

Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorship for this post.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusion, equity and wellbeing for all children and families.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships.
  • Show resilience, empathy and a solution-focused approach when working with families.
  • Be highly organised, with the ability to monitor data and respond effectively.
  • Work proactively to ensure all children are Ready, Respectful and Safe, enabling them to fully engage in learning.
