£16,361 - £17,934 (28.5 Hours per week, Term-time only)
Fairview School, Perth

Fairview School is located on the Perth Academy / Viewlands Primary School campus and is the Authority’s school for children and young people with severe and complex additional support needs aged 3-18.

We seek an experienced and enthusiastic Pupil Support Assistant (PSA) with experience of supporting children and young people with additional support needs to work at this outstanding school.

The PSA role is varied and may include supporting children and young people with a wide range of needs which may include:

-Social and emotional
-Learning
-Communication
-Physical
-Personal care.

Some children and young people may present with distressed behaviour as a result of these needs.  Full training will be available to the successful candidate.

The anticipated starting dates for this post will be October 2023.

It is likely this post will be based in the secondary department of the school.

The Individual

As a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA) you will work as part of a team supporting children and young people who have additional support needs to access learning, the community and other wider experiences to allow them to be as independent as possible.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

- A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing
- Kindness, empathy, patience and an ability to engage with children and young people
- Confidentiality in relation to children, young people and their families
- Experience of supporting children and young people with additional support needs
- An ability to work as part of a team
- An ability to use their own initiative 
- Flexibility - the post may involve working in a range of community settings e.g swimming, shopping, public transport as well as working across different classes on occasions.
