Carpenter Court Sheltered Housing, Carpenter Court, Kinnoull Street, Perth PH1 5EZ

We have an exciting opportunity for individuals who would be interested in being a Housing Support Officer, within our Older Persons' Housing Team, supporting older adults in their tenancies within sheltered housing.

You will be a mobile Sheltered Housing Support Officer who works across any of our sheltered and retirement units in the Perth and Kinross area.

You will deliver high quality services to older adults including practical support, assistance, advice and guidance and undertaking routine daily tasks to meet the needs of our tenants and the aims of our service. You will be managed by the Co-ordinator for Older Persons' Housing Team and will work as part of a large team of Housing Support Officers and auxiliaries.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the buildings are safe and secure and work closely with colleagues from the Locality Housing Team, Housing Options, Repairs and Improvements as well as other internal and external teams and agencies.

You will organise activities and events for tenants, their families and sometimes, for those in the surrounding neighbourhoods.

You will work Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Requirements

You should hold an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care and should be registered with or will be required to register with Scottish Social Services Council within 6 months of commencing employment.  You are also responsible for paying your annual membership fee.

You should have experience of working in a housing/housing support/social care setting.

You should ideally have experience of working with older adults.

We are looking for someone who is very focused on the needs of individuals, person-centred, enthusiastic, innovative and creative.

You should be able to communicate effectively with tenants to build relationships with them and also with internal and external agencies and organisations to provide a person-centred approach and the best possible outcomes for individuals.

You should be a resilient, tenacious individual who can deal with the challenges and hurdles you may encounter and you should have strength of character and be solution-focused to work with individuals to help them achieve their goals and outcomes.

You will have a non-judgemental attitude, be empathetic and sensitive to tenants’ needs and treat people with compassion, dignity and respect.  You will understand and have an awareness of the wellbeing and individual needs of older people.

You should be a highly organised individual and have the ability to prioritise your own workload.  You should be flexible and willing to travel to different locations, sometimes at short notice due to staff absences.

You will be required to use various computer systems and databases to keep accurate records and produce support plans and as such, you will need to have good digital skills.  Good digital skills are required too to enable you to support tenants to become digitally included.

You should have a good awareness of Health and Safety Legislation including lone working, keeping yourself safe, the safety and security of building, infection control and manual handling.

You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
