The department that currently offers S1 Digital Literacy; S2 Business and, in S3-S6, national qualifications or National progression awards in the areas of Administration and IT; Business Management; and Accounts.  Currently the department comprises 3 members of staff but with a growing school roll, this high attaining department that puts learners at the heart of everything they do, is likely to take further opportunities for curriculum expansion and growth in future years.  Although relatively small in size, the Department has a big impact and, working alongside colleagues in the Computing department, and together they are undertaking a refresh of our BGE curriculum to enhance digital and computing skills of all of our young people.

With a high degree of success in ensuring young people enter positive destinations, the school takes account of labour market intelligence to ensure our business education curriculum is varied and up-to-date whilst reflecting the needs of the marketplace.

The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of pedagogies that engage learners.  The successful candidate will take account of the needs of all learners in their classrooms and ensure inclusive practice that leads to positive outcomes for learners.  An ability to analyse data to ensure that outcomes for young people are the best they possibly can be, will be required.

High aspirations for learners, good communication skills with parents/carers and respectful relationships are key to the department's success and the successful applicant will be skilled in positive behaviour management techniques including restorative approaches, in order to be able to contribute positively to the good practice already evident in the department.

If you have an innovative approach to engaging young people and instilling a love of business education then this may be the job for you.
