Job Description

 

Renfrewshire Council operates a wide range of services to maintain the tree and woodland landscape across the area. We are using new technologies and new ways of working to deliver better services and better value.

 

 

The Neighbourhood Services team is part of the Council’s wider Environment, Housing and Infrastructure team and employs over 150 people operating 50 specialist vehicles maintaining the built and natural environment in the area. This includes ground maintenance, street sweeping, maintaining road verges, cemetery operations, arboricultural, sports pitches and more.

 

 

The main purpose of this role is to cost and process all financial requirements to support tree operations and additional service requests for Neighbourhood Services.
This post will involve budget management, procuring agreed works and producing regular financial progress reports utilising existing procurement frameworks and cost and procure required works.

 


You will monitor all Neighbourhood Services works and ensure all snagging is undertaken prior to settlement of any invoices and agree costs for proposed works for internal departments and recharge internal departments on completion.

 


You will monitor all budgeted works and provide financial progress updates to the leadership team of Neighbourhood services, ensuring all requests for are dealt with consistently, proportionately, objectively, and impartially across Renfrewshire.

 


You will be part of a specialist team that is committed to delivering excellent arboricultural services to the residents, communities and businesses of Renfrewshire and your day-to-day work will improve the environment that people live and work in.

 


This will involve working with a wide range of internal and external customers and front-line service managers to deliver an effective tree management service.

 


An SVQ or HNC qualification in Forestry, Arboriculture, Woodland, Ground Maintenance or relevant professional experience in a commercial environment, evidence of continuing, relevant, professional development, relevant experience of a broad range of tree management and or ground maintenance inspection activities are essential.

 


You must have experience of overseeing contracts and resources whilst ensuring the provision of a high-quality service, experience of prioritising tasks and activities co-ordinating effective and efficient management of ground maintenance, forestry, tree and or woodland operations, working knowledge of the hazard involved in ground maintenance, tree and woodland activities and the application of the Health and Safety at Work Act and other relevant safety legislation and regulations relating to the sector and knowledge of applicable computer software packages, GIS applications, or equivalent requiring knowledge of IT software and programmes.

 


Effective communication, problem solving, organisational, presentation, networking, regulatory, influencing and motivational skills are also essential.

 


You must be able to manage and deliver within budget and have a detailed awareness of costs and budget controls, have the ability to support Senior Officers, Team Leaders, Partner’s and Elected Members and the ability to plan and carry out work according to agreed deadlines effectively and efficiently.
