You’ll be part of our Security & Compliance Team, who work within the ICT team as part of the Finance and Resources Service. Our service ambition is to ensure the smooth running of corporate Council operations, by providing services across the organisation—including HR, procurement, legal, ICT and audit & governance. Your knowledge and skills will help us continue to improve what we do and how we do it. We work as a team at Renfrewshire Council to innovative, look at new ways of working and deliver a great service.

 

This is a varied and exciting role, with plenty of space to grow and develop. You’ll need good attention to detail, a can-do attitude and be able to work well within a team environment. You’ll need to be confident, understand the importance of maintaining high standards, have great communication and engagement skills and have an enthusiasm for learning.

 

Some of the things you’ll do:

  • Assist in the defence of the ICT network and related digital services from cyber risk and securing online, virtual and physical system infrastructures Assist in the delivery and improvements of cyber incident response processes.
  • Contribute to the development of cyber security-related policies, processes and procedures.
  • Ensure the Council is protected against cyber security threats and that data is always kept secure.
  • You will work collaboratively with the Architecture & Technology team and wider ICT Services to provide security advice on a range of cyber related issues.
  • Carry out cyber security operations including threat monitoring and incident prevention/response.

 As the ideal candidate you should:

  • Educated to degree level in ICT or Cyber Security, or equivalent Cyber Security related qualification(s) such as CISSP, CISM, CISMP, CompTIA Security+, MSC Information Security, ISO27001 Lead Auditor Implementer / Trainer, or equivalent.
  • Experience in Cyber Security with experience of security tool sets and specifically of SIEM monitoring and working with a Security Operations Centre (SOC).
  • Experience of working with Azure Security Engineer and Microsoft 365.
  • Understand security methodologies, current best practise and industry standards.
