Role Purpose

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Social Work assistants to join our newly established Children Affected by Disability (CHAD) team.

 

Social Work assistants play a very important role in supporting colleagues and families. We have vacancies in our offices in Duns, Hawick, Galashiels and Peebles. These hours can be full time or part time.

 

The prime task of the post holder will be to effectively and efficiently provide a high quality service to children and families.

 

The main focus of the post holder's duties will be working with Children Affected by Disability or life limiting illness and their families.

 

As a member of Children & Families Social Work Service, Social Work Assistants will work to ensure, wherever possible, that children and young people experiencing diffuclties are helped to remain in their own homes and local communities, wherever this is consistent with their safety and welfare. You will be part reviewing plans for children who are accessing support and services assessed as required for their individual needs. You may be involved in supporting social workers with parenting assessments. You may be allocated 1:1 work with Children and/or their parent's.

 

You will ork with families in their home and in the local community. The post holder will be required to work with children on the Child Protection Register and those who are Looked After and Accommodated and their families / carers. As well as with families and children to prevent the need for statutory involvement.

 

Essential

HNC/SVQ 3 in Social Care or Childcare and Education
OR considerable experience and a commitment to undertake such training
