Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, proactive and resilient Mental Health Officer Team Leader to join our team.

As the role is Team Leader, we are looking for applicants who can demonstrate positive leadership qualities. The Mental Health Officer Team is integral to providing a high-quality Mental Health Officer Service within Scottish Borders Council.

The MHO Team responds to all new requests for assessment under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 (and if consequently required application for short term detention and the associated social circumstance report), and Criminal Procedures (Scotland) Act.

The MHO Team also complete reports to accompany application for local authority and private AWI applications. The Mental Health Team Leader status reflects the role in relation to mentoring MHOs within the team and supporting Mental Health Officer student placements each year. The Mental Health Officer Team Leader role also incorporates responsibility for the Appropriate Adult service within the Scottish Borders Council .

Essential

At least four years post qualifying experience Working in a Local Authority setting.

Supervision and Management of staff

Experience of service delivery in multi agency context

Budget management

Contributing to the personal development of staff


A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
