The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 is legislation that helps communities do more for themselves and have more say in the decisions that affect them. In line with the ethos of the Act and the Scottish Community Development Centre’s Review of Area Partnerships, and the Community Fund, Scottish Borders Council has been supporting working groups to identify what the 2024/25 Neighbourhood Support Fund arrangements should look like in each of the five localities.

Tweeddale Neighbourhood Support Fund Assessment Panel provides an exciting opportunity to join a small community led team responsible for assessing SBC’s Neighbourhood Support Fund applications and making funding recommendations to Tweeddale Area Partnership for approval.

This is an important and challenging role, offering a chance to contribute to the Tweeddale Area Partnership examining grant applications to ensure consistency of assessment against approved processes and criteria, value for money and the potential to achieve positive outcomes for the benefit of the community. The Panel aims to contribute to the open, accountable and transparent decision making in relation Tweeddale Neighbourhood Support Fund.

Successful candidates will have a genuine interest in the positive development of communities across Tweeddale. We are looking to form a mixed group of experienced and non-experienced grant assessors however, applicants should have an understanding of local need and priorities, have good communication and interpersonal skills, be willing to work as part of a team, be respectful of the views of others and be willing to learn.
