The Housing Officer is responsible for providing an effective housing management and allocation service for all Shetland Islands Council’s housing stock and for the provision of services to homeless people.

This includes all day to day work associated with tenancy management, homelessness, application management and tenant participation including carrying out comprehensive assessments of housing need and providing housing advice and information across all tenures to a wide variety of audiences.

This vacancy is being advertised as a Career Graded post, which is a career development opportunity. This means that the Council is committed to supporting the successful candidate to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role. The successful candidate will be supported to become fully competent in the role and progress through the career grade. Where there is a requirement to achieve a qualification, this will be fully funded by the Council.
