Children's Services have an exciting opportunity for various Youth Worker roles based in a range of locations across Shetland. 

The Youth Worker’s role is to contribute to the delivery of youth work opportunities in a variety of settings, including youth clubs and in collaboration with schools and other agencies. 

Youth Workers will report to a Youth Development Worker and will work closely with other youth work staff and volunteers to maximise opportunities for young people to access social and personal development as well as learning opportunities.

The Youth Worker posts available with varying hours and locations are as follows:

Permanent Part time posts

Sandwick Junior Youth Club - 2.5 hpw - 2 x posts at Junior Youth Club & 2 x posts at Senior Youth Club -  working 26 weeks per year - Friday from 1745 – 2245

WestsideYouth Club - 4 hpw - 1 posts available  - working 19 weeks per year - Tuesdays 1800-2200

Livister Youth Club- 4.5 hpw - 1 posts available - working 32 weeks per year - Friday from 1730 – 2200

Relief Youth Worker - various locations on a casual basis

  • The grade of these posts are E
  • Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of  £1.3161 per hour
  • Various permanent contract, part time posts working over various weeks per year as detailed
  • The relief Youth worker roles are on a casual basis
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post
  • We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
