Children's Services have an exciting opportunity for various Youth Worker roles based in a range of locations across Shetland.

The Youth Worker’s role is to contribute to the delivery of youth work opportunities in a variety of settings, including youth clubs and in collaboration with schools and other agencies.

Youth Workers will report to a Youth Development Worker and will work closely with other youth work staff and volunteers to maximise opportunities for young people to access social and personal development as well as learning opportunities.

The Youth Worker posts available with varying hours and locations are as follows:

Permanent Part time posts

60 North / The Hub – 4 post available – 3.15 hpw – Friday 1915 – 2230

Burravoe Youth Club – 1 post available – 2 hpw – working 35 weeks per year – Wednesday 1730 – 1930)

Cunningsburgh Youth Club – 1 posts available – 4 hpw – working 36 weeks per year – Thursday 1800 – 2200

Livister Youth Club – 2 post available – 4.5 hpw – working 32 weeks per year – Friday 1730 – 2200

Mid Yell Juniors – 1 posts available – 2 hpw – working 18 weeks per year – Thursday

Mid Yell Youth Café – 2 posts available – 2.5 hpw – working 28 weeks per year – Friday 1915 – 2145

Quarff Youth Club – 1 posts available – 3 hpw – working 12 weeks per year – Tuesday 1815 – 2115

Wastside Youth Club – 1 post available – 4 hpw – working 19 weeks per year – Tuesday 1800 – 2200)

Whitedale Youth Club – 1 post available – 4 hpw – working 36 weeks per year – Thursday 1800 – 2200

Unst Youth Club – 1 post available - 2.5 hpw - working 28 weeks per year - Monday from 1515 - 1730

  • The grade of these posts are E
  • Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.3161 per hour
  • Various permanent contracts, part time posts working over various weeks per year as detailed
  • The relief Youth worker roles are on a casual basis
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post
