Job Description

What is the role?

The Information and Advice Hub offers free, impartial and confidential advice services to residents across South Ayrshire.  Working in this role you need to be completely customer focussed and have the ability to offer advice and information on welfare benefits and money/debt advice.

The role has been created in partnership with South Ayrshire Foodbank, which will deliver a free, impartial and confidential advice service within food banks across South Ayrshire as well as our central office in Ayr.  You will be working with clients to maximising their income and matters relating to budgeting.  You’ll offer practical advice on a wide range of issues including benefit entitlement, form filling, accessing emergency grant schemes such as The Scottish Welfare Fund and The Fuel Bank Foundation. 

To succeed you will need to demonstrate your experience of delivering welfare benefits and/or money advice & debt advice and be flexible to meet the changing needs of the service as well as having the drive and determination to achieve performance standards.    

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience of working in a similar role, can demonstrate skills in handling customer enquiries face to face and by phone and have experience of working ICT systems. Full training will be provided.

Extra information:

The Grade of this post is Grade 2 / Level 5; the hourly rate is from £12.76 to £13.80 and the annual salary is from £23,287 to £25,185. Please note this post is temporary for 12 months.

Applicants must have a valid UK driving licence as well as access to a vehicle to allow for travel between multiple locations. 

The successful candidate will primarily work from home with occasional travel within the South Ayrshire area. Frequency for attending the office may vary depending on the exigencies of the service.
