Job Description

What is the role?

This will include working in partnership with key agencies to ensure that our families receive support as early as possible to make the task of parenting easier and prevent family breakdown

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Small Steps to Wellbeing service that encompasses South Ayrshire Council’s Family First Schools project.

You will be an integral member of a small team working across South Ayrshire to support families, strengthening the implementation of the Family First Model in partnership with Education. You will be based across 8 secondary school localities, the team is supportive, innovative, and focussed on using creative approaches to support young people and their families at earlier opportunities. You will undertake focussed work with young people and their families to improve their wellbeing and help to achieve their potential. Opportunity to develop group programmes and develop your own practice are supported within the team. You will oversee whole family plans to build cohesion and confidence in families.

At the heart of these plans will be a relationship-based approach that identifies what the service can do to initiate the greatest change or impact for our families. This will include working in partnership with key agencies to ensure that our families receive support as early as possible to make the task of parenting easier and prevent family breakdown.

You will work with a range of council and voluntary agency partners to build family capital and contribute to the Strategic Outcomes of South Ayrshires Childrens Services Plan and The Promise.

Experience within Children & Families setting would be preferred.

This is a temporary fixed term contract until 31st March 2026

Extra Information:

The Grade of this post is Grade 3 / Level 10; the hourly rate is from £23.07 to £24.26 and the annual salary is from £42,103 to £44,274.

The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly between home and the office and the frequency for attending the office may vary depending on the exigencies of the service.

Applicants whose qualification award is pending within the next 6 months, are welcome to apply. If you are recommended for the post the initial placement will be at Level 8, until your Qualification is awarded.

This post is considered to be Regulated Work with protected adults and children as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update if already a Scheme Member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made.
