Requirements

Vacancies; These is one 35 hour full time post based within, Regent House, 9 High Patrick Street, Hamilton.

South Lanarkshire Council Justice Services are looking for one highly motivated , enthusiastic, and experienced persons to take the role of a Justice Social Worker within the centralised multi- disciplinary Caledonian System Delivery Team based in Hamilton which provides service across South Lanarkshire Council area .

These are busy but rewarding posts with responsibility for undertaking Caledonian System assessments for courts and supervising Community Payback Orders with Caledonian Programme requirement and delivering the Caledonian men’s groupwork Programme. Applicants will also be required to prepare Criminal Justice Social Work Reports for Courts, link with public protection bodies, carry out risk assessments and effective management of impact of domestic abuse on individuals and their families. All duties will be carried out in line with the South Lanarkshire Council’s policies and Caledonian System Programme requirements.

These posts will require occasional involvement in evening work. Applicants will be afforded opportunities to undertake Caledonian System training and support in line with the Social Work Resources’ continuous improvement commitments. Applicants should have previous experience of delivering Justice Social Work services and preferably knowledge of Caledonian System . It is desirable that applicants have experience of Justice specific risk assessments and management of service users that pose a high risk of harm to others. Applicants will act as a Social Worker and undertake casework involving partnership working and provide professional advice and guidance to individuals, families, and groups within the community affected by Domestic abuse . Applicants should have excellent written, verbal communication skills, and demonstrate an ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds and be able to gain their trust, to help them get the best from our services.

Applicants should be able to deal with a variety of situations where your tact, patience and understanding will be needed. You will need to assess and cope with these situations in a sensitive and non-judgmental way.All applicants must be registered or in the process of registering with Scottish Social Services Council and hold  a Degree in Social Work qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

ViSOR Vetting

South Lanarkshire Justice Services require all successful applicants to undertake Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) at a minimum of level 2. This is due to the requirement to access the Violent and Sex Offender Register (ViSOR ) information system. Foreign Police Check

Candidates should be able to detail any gaps in employment and provide a foreign police check where applicable for any periods living or working abroad.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007.  Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.
