Community and Enterprise Resources provide professional roads design and supervision services across the South Lanarkshire Council area for new roads, reconstruction and maintenance projects.
We are looking to recruit for an Assistant Engineer / Clerk of Works to work within the roads design and contracts team.
The post will operate from the design office, between various sites and permanently on site, as required.
Applicants for this post must have a good general education and a sound working knowledge of construction techniques; site practices; and safety procedures on construction sites. Experience of contract supervision is required and a sound working knowledge of engineering practice and the work practices of statutory undertakers is desirable.
They will be responsible for inspecting all work in progress on new, improvement or maintenance projects, ensuring an acceptable standard of workmanship/materials in accordance with the specification, maintaining site records and recording measurements.
They will also ensure that employees and/or outside bodies under their control comply with the Services, or their own, Health and Safety at work procedures and any relevant Legislation and to ensure that safe systems of work are used at all times.
They will also be responsible for carrying out surveys of the condition of roads.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated with good customer care and written/oral communication skills. I. T. skills would be advantageous.
Applicants must have a driving licence and the ability to travel throughout the operational area and be flexible with regard to overtime working.
