Job Description

Location: council Offices, Almada Street

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Housing and Technical Resources for Refugee Support Officers. The Refugee Resettlement Team support families who settle in South Lanarkshire as part of Home Office Global Refugee Programmes. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting existing families and new arrivals.

Experience supporting refugees is essential and you must show that you have outstanding communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, excellent planning and organisational acumen and be very flexible and creative with your time, energy and problem solving abilities. This is not a 9-5 post – often there are early starts and late finishes.

Motivation, energy and empathy are essential in this role and we will be looking for candidates to demonstrate these behaviours within the application form.

Requirements

This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007.

Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children or protected adults.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council.
