Job Description

Location: Various libraries across South Lanarkshire

Shift pattern: As and when required

Duration: Casual

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Library Assistants to work within their libraries.

The successful candidates will work as part of a team to deliver a range of Library Services to the community. Tasks include providing support to customers with Active IT services, participating in promotional events and activities to encourage literacy development and dealing with face to face, telephone and online customer enquiries.

It is essential that you have an enthusiastic and flexible approach and can demonstrate an enthusiasm for books and reading. You must be computer literate and show evidence of digital literacy. You must have excellent communication and customer care skills. There is a requirement for literacy and numeracy qualification to National 5 or equivalent standard.

Responsibilities

Deliver quality front-line library services in line with national and local agendas.

Deliver a range of library support functions according to library service priorities.

Promote learning opportunities and provide basic support to customers in learning based activities, including the use of new technology.

Encourage library users to extend their reading choices through reader development promotions and participating in promotional events and activities.

The Individual

There is a requirement for literacy and numeracy qualification to National 5 or equivalent standard.
