Job Description

Location: Various locations throughout South Lanarkshire

Number of Posts: 1

Hours: 28 hours per week (4 days, 7 hours per day)

Duration: Fixed Term until 31 August 2024

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture in partnership with sportscotland wish to appoint an Active Schools Coordinator to strengthen its existing team. This is a key appointment in relation to the development of the Active Schools programme within South Lanarkshire.

The Active Schools network aims to increase the activity levels of children and young people by ensuring there are more and higher quality opportunities to participate in sport and physical activity before, during and after school whilst developing pathways between schools and sports clubs in the local community.

Essential Candidate Specification:

  • Clearly demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of the aims of the Active Schools Network.
  • Extensive experience of engaging with children and young people through sport and physical activity in education, sport, health, community, leisure and/or recreation industries.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.

 

Requirements

As part of our approach to good practice and safer recruitment we carry out a number of pre-employment checks for example, Identity, Asylum and Immigration and employment history etc.

This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made.

Please note successful candidates will be required to cover the cost of the PVG check.

You will be eligible to participate in South Lanarkshire Council's Car Pool Scheme as it would be advantageous to have access to a vehicle for business purposes if required to travel to alternative locations
