Job Description
Stirling Council’s Environment and Place (Land Services) is seeking to fill the post of Cemeteries Officer. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work with the team in effectively managing and developing a sensitive and efficient cemeteries service. You must also provide a high quality and regulatory compliant burials service. You will be responsible for monitoring the standard of front-line service delivery, administration, and overall first line management of the Council's cemeteries, as well as the project management of the cemeteries strategy and review of these facilities. You will ensure that services remain committed to and deliver continuous environmental improvements and remain sensitive and proactive in adapting to changing customer and service needs. You will manage/deliver the Service in accordance with the Council's corporate policies and procedures and relevant strategy provision. You will be responsible for planning, reviewing and developing a range of strategic processes, management rules and action plans in relation to Cemeteries including burials services, cemetery management, memorial safety etc. The successful candidate will have a great opportunity to work within an operational team to make a difference by contributing to and improving the services we deliver.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who applies methodical and analytical thinking in their role and who is empathetic to the needs of clients within this service area.
You must have a detailed working knowledge of statutory responsibilities in relation to the provision and administration of a Cemeteries Service with extensive experience in this or a related field. You must also demonstrate a track record of continuous improvement, innovation, and creativity in leading and delivering high quality services. You should also have the ability to work on your own initiative to meet deadlines and to develop effective working partnerships is an integral part of this role. An understanding and experience of Health and Safety Legislation is essential along with a proven track record of contractual and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills within an emotional environment are also essential together with an understanding and general competence in relation to windows based IT applications. You will possess the ability to deliver a business excellence approach to customer/stakeholder management with experience in budget monitoring and the relevant standards and specifications associated with cemeteries activities applicable across the Stirling Council cemeteries estate.
A current driving license is essential for this post.
Possession of, or willingness to work towards an ICCM Diploma would be advantageous.Requirements
