Job Description

This post is key to meeting statutory requirements on behalf of the Council, maintaining operational resilience and enabling the transformation of children’s services in Stirling, in keeping with “The Promise”. You will join the Senior Leadership Team in Children & Families/Justice Social Work Services to develop services that ensure that children remain in their communities where possible and if not, that they are cared for in loving environments that promote meaningful relationships. Stirling is an ambitious Council and wants to take advantage of the area’s unrivalled location and rapid growth to provide opportunities and services for all its citizens, and to encourage sustainable business development. We are committed to working in partnership with other organisations to deliver innovative services. We are looking for you to work with other agencies to deliver the outcomes of the Children’s Service Plan and Corporate Parenting/Promise Plan. You will have close links with colleagues in the Health & Social Care Partnership and will collaborate to deliver services that span childrens Social Work and adult social care, for example alcohol and drug services. You will be part of the Stirling Child Protection Committee and contribute to implementing its strategic plan. You will manage staff in locality social work teams ensuring that they are supported to deliver high quality services for our most vulnerable children and families. You will work closely with education colleagues to close the attainment gap, enable our young people to move onto positive destinations and improve outcomes for our looked after children. You will be a highly effective communicator and team player, a strategic thinker, an experienced manager, and you will have consistently achieved. You will use your record of success to champion and embed opportunities for all children, young people and care leavers, within Council and partnership systems and arrangements. Analytical skills, astute political awareness and understanding are needed, together with a commitment to customer-focused public services. Working with our communities and public, private and third sector organisations, as well as colleagues and teams across the organisation, you will build and develop relationships to deliver improvements for the benefit of Stirling’s children and young people.
